Hygiene / Aftercare

We do our research, making it a point to keep abreast of the latest in sterilization. We take your hygiene very seriously and have invested in some of the best sterlisation equipment available. All needles are only used once and machines are stripped and cleaned between each sitting.

By receiving a tattoo or piercing in an unhygienic/unprofessional environment you are endangering your health and exposing yourself to serious blood-borne diseases such as Hepatitis C and HIV – wherever you choose to receive a tattoo or piercing it is up to you to respect your body enough to have it done with safety as a priority over ”getting a bargain”.

Not only are we the friendliest, we`re also one of the cleanest – Our premises are Licenced and Health Authority Registered, and we adhere closely to all the requirements set by the Chartered Institute of Enviromental Health.

TATTOO AFTERCARE

  • After 1.5 – 2 hours remove any dressing that may have been applied
  • Wash your tattoo carefully with warm soapy water using clean hands (do not use a flannel or a sponge as this may impede healing)
  • Be sure to rinse all the soap off your new tattoo to minimise any chance of irritation
  • Gently dab dry with fresh kitchen roll. You should avoid using any other materials i.e. towel, tissue etc as this may affect the healing process
  • Apply a thin layer of the aftercare cream which can be purchased from our locations.
  • Repeat the cleaning process twice a day, morning and evening
  • Re-apply your cream in-between washes – little and often

PROBLEMATIC HEALING CAN OFTEN BE CAUSED BY

  • Itching, picking and/or scratching your new tattoo
  • Aggravation (due to clothing on the area)
  • Not using the suggested aftercare products
  • ANY contact with unwashed hands
  • Prolonged exposure to the sun/sun-beds etc
  • Soaking in water, for example bathing or swimming
  • Exposure to dirt/dust at work. Ask your tattooist for advice if this applies to you

Piercing aftercare

  • Hot compress or osmosis / quality solutions which can be found at Pureink 1 and Pureink 3 This method works best when used with hot but not boiling water.
  • Soak a wedge of tissue (not cotton wool as the fibres may get inside the piercing) and place on the piercing for a few minutes or until it starts to cool down
  • Remove any crust around the piercing with a clean piece of tissue and repeat just before the final rinse. This will help to open the pores of the skin. Pour the remainder into a clean container just big enough to cover the area
  • Soak the piercing for 10 minutes, making sure the water is warm at all times. This will draw out any impurities or trapped fluid out of the piercing
  • After this process it would be a good idea to rinse the area with clean water or a very mild antibacterial solution – which should also be rinsed with clean water This can be repeated a few times a week to heal a piercing, but when treating a problematic piercing twice a day is preferable
